Comparing Facebook Reels, YouTube Shorts, and TikTok: My Take on Their Effects on Users
HOUSE BASIC EDUCATION COMMITTEE HEARING ON THE PROPOSED CAREER PROGRESSION BILL AND THE ISSUES RAISED BY HEAD TEACHERS

DepEd Migration from Google Suite to MS Office 365: What You Need to Know
The Department of Education (DepEd) recently announced that it will be migrating from Google Suite to Microsoft Office 365. This shift is expected to affect over 27 million DepEd learners and 900,000 teachers across the Philippines. In this article, we'll take a closer look at what this migration means and what it means for DepEd's stakeholders.
What is Google Suite?
Google Suite is a cloud-based productivity suite that includes a range of applications such as Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides. These applications allow users to create, edit, and collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and other types of files.
What is Microsoft Office 365?
Microsoft Office 365 is a cloud-based productivity suite that includes a range of applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. These applications allow users to create, edit, and collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and other types of files.
Why the Migration?
DepEd's migration from Google Suite to Microsoft Office 365 is part of its efforts to provide its learners and teachers with a more integrated and efficient learning experience. The shift will allow for a more seamless integration with existing DepEd systems, such as DepEd Commons and the Learner Information System (LIS).
What Does it Mean for DepEd Stakeholders?
For DepEd learners and teachers, this migration means that they will need to learn new tools and applications as they transition from Google Suite to Microsoft Office 365. This may require some training and adjustment to get used to the new platform.
For parents and guardians, this migration may require the purchase of new devices or software to ensure compatibility with Microsoft Office 365 applications.
For DepEd administrators, this migration means a change in the systems and infrastructure required to support the new platform. DepEd may need to invest in new hardware or software to ensure that the migration is smooth and seamless.
Conclusion
DepEd's migration from Google Suite to Microsoft Office 365 is a significant shift that will impact millions of learners, teachers, parents, and administrators across the Philippines. While this migration is part of DepEd's efforts to provide a more integrated and efficient learning experience, it may require some training and adjustment for stakeholders. As the transition takes place, it will be important for all DepEd stakeholders to work together to ensure a smooth and successful migration.

Facebook Under Fire for Allowing Misleading Ads on Platform
In recent years, Facebook has come under scrutiny for its handling of ads with misleading content. Despite implementing policies to combat false information, Facebook still struggles to fully address the issue.
Ads with misleading content on Facebook can range from scams promoting fake products or services, to political ads with false information or propaganda. These ads can be targeted to specific demographics, allowing them to spread quickly and effectively.
One example of a misleading ad on Facebook is the promotion of "miracle" weight loss pills or supplements that promise to help users lose weight quickly and easily. In reality, these products are often ineffective or even dangerous, but they continue to be promoted through targeted ads on Facebook.
Political ads with misleading content have also been a major issue on the platform. During the 2016 US presidential election, Facebook was criticized for allowing Russian operatives to use the platform to spread misinformation and propaganda. Since then, the platform has implemented new policies to address political ads, but these policies have been criticized for not going far enough to combat false information.
One of the challenges with ads on Facebook is the platform's business model, which relies heavily on advertising revenue. This creates a conflict of interest, as Facebook may be hesitant to crack down on ads with misleading content that generate significant revenue.
While Facebook has taken steps to address the issue, such as implementing a third-party fact-checking program for certain types of ads, critics argue that more needs to be done. Some have called for stricter policies and enforcement, while others have suggested that Facebook should abandon its advertising model altogether.
In the meantime, users can take steps to protect themselves from ads with misleading content by being cautious about the products or services they see advertised on Facebook, and doing their own research before making any purchases or supporting any political campaigns.
Overall, the issue of ads with misleading content on Facebook remains a complex and ongoing challenge for the platform. It is clear that more needs to be done to address the issue and ensure that users are not being misled or taken advantage of by these ads.
